FAQs
What is this about?
The Petplan National Petrait Gallery is a photo upload website specifically designed for pets.
Through the website, we would like to collect more than 138,000 photos which we will then print and
display in a London location during the October 2009 timeframe. If successful, we will achieve the
Guinness World Record for the largest photo exhibition.
Why is Petplan involved?
As the world's largest pet insurance provider, we know that pets play a very special role
in our lives. We've received thousands of letters and pet photos over the years telling us how important
pets are - how they make us laugh, how they have provided real companionship and in some cases, how they
have saved lives. The development of the Petplan National Petrait Gallery is designed to celebrate the
special relationship we have with our pets AND to attempt a Guinness World Record in the process!
How can I upload my pet photo?
Select ‘Upload’ and register for the gallery. We'll then send you an email confirming your registration.
Find a great picture of your pet and follow the step-by-step instructions on the website to upload your picture to ‘My Gallery’.
Once you've uploaded you picture you'll need to wait for an email that confirms the photo is approved for inclusion in the gallery.
As soon as you get this your picture will be included in the online gallery and you'll be able to find it at any time with the unique
Guinness World Record ID we send you.
Can there be ‘humans’ in the photo as well? Can a child be included?
Of course! As long as the photo includes your pet, the photo can also include a person(s), place or thing! Please be reminded of a
few things: If any minors appear in the photograph or photographs, please confirm that you are the mother, father or duly appointed guardian
of such child(ren) or have the irrevocable permission of the parents or duly appointed guardian(s) of such child(ren) to grant the rights set
forth herein to Petplan. Additionally, we will not include any photos that are unlawful, offensive, obscene, threatening, harassing, or abusive,
or that violate any right of any other third party.
What if I want to delete my pet's photo?
You are able to delete your pet's photo from your gallery but please bear in mind that the photo will still be used as part of the
Guinness World Record attempt and will be printed out for the live gallery in London in October. Please email us at
delete@petraitgallery.co.uk if you would like your picture
to be removed from the online gallery.
How will my pet photo be used?
Your photo will be used as part of a Guinness World Record attempt to create the largest photo exhibition in the world.
Your photo will be displayed in an offline gallery in London in October. Additionally, your photo will be displayed in the petrait
gallery on this website, www.petraitgallery.co.uk and may be used for public relations purposes with a whole host of media including
national press, online media, blogging sites etc. Finally, we may use the photos from this site for Petplan marketing and advertising material. Please read the Terms and Conditions for further use.
Can I come see the Guinness World Record exhibition?
Yes, please come! As we start to approach the October timeframe and if (when!) we achieve the Guinness World Record, we will publicise
the date and location of the event. Additionally, we will email all participants of the event and invite you to come see your pet's photo displayed.
How do I purchase merchandise with my pet photo?
Once you have registered and uploaded a photo to your pet page, look for the ‘Print this pet’ button. This will take you to the
Gifts page where you can choose and purchase the merchandise you like.
Can I include a photo of a deceased pet?
We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your pet and understand this can be a difficult time. Entering a deceased pet is absolutely fine,
and in fact we encourage you to enter him or her into the site. It would be a wonderful tribute.
Can I enter more than one pet in the gallery or one photo showing multiple pets?
Of course! The more the merrier! Please be reminded that we will not include any photos that are unlawful, offensive, obscene, threatening,
harassing, or abusive, or that violate any right of any other third party.
Can I enter even though I do not live in the United Kingdom?
Yes! As this is a Guinness WORLD Record, we would love to have people from around the world get involved. The only thing you won't be able
to do is order merchandise as it's UK only but everything else is open to you.
How many photos can I enter in the website?
As many as you want! The only stipulation is that the photos you upload follow the Terms and Conditions and that each photo is different/unique.
I am having technical problems entering my photo and/or have a question not answered in this FAQs list.
