As pet owners we have a special relationship with animals. We love them so much that we want to spend lots of time with them - in fact 8 out of 10 of us watch TV with our pets! However, not every pet gets on with technology though as Guinea Pigs are the animal most likely to be hurt by game consoles. All this technology doesn't mean we are not active with our furry friends. Nearly half of pets are embarking on fitness regimes in 2009 - we wonder how these are going?!

• Always measure out your pet's food so you can avoid over-feeding and fad diets for your pet!
• You can invest in toys to keep them active but why not have them join you during your next jog or cycle ride;
• Dental care is key in avoiding diseases so after you've brushed your own teeth, give your pet's teeth a good scrub too!
• Think about your pet's future - by taking out a pet insurance policy you can prevent having to pay expensive unforeseen costs if your pet gets sick or injured.
